Issue 13: Introducing "Peter Bot"

Hello founders and sellers,

It’s been some time since my last newsletter issue so apologies for the silence! Client work has kept me busy but I’ll be poking in here again to start offering advice that I’m giving during my sessions and workshops to you all, as well.

In the meantime, I have some exciting news to share. As many of you know, I’ve devoted a lot of time and energy into my content across LinkedIn, the Decoding Sales podcast, the Zero to Hero founder community, and now YouTube.

The problem is that all of these platforms are scattered and it’s been hard to remember where everything is when founders ask me, “What materials should I look at before we meet?”

It’s why I’ve developed in partnership with Regimen, the Peter Bot. My goal is to help more founders discover and learn from my sales approach through content and 1:1 coaching sessions where needed.

Any Questions?

Stop asking "any questions?"
It's a throw away question and comes across lazy.
It's also doesn't give you the details you need around whether or not you're speaking with a qualified lead. More often than not, prospects will say "nope no questions". Or they'll ask a question that isn't related or helpful to you what you were saying or showing. So instead asking, "any questions?" ask more informed and intentional questions

Biggest Customer

Be honest about your largest customer. Even if it means your largest customer is not that big. Or even if it means you don't yet have a customer. Enterprise sales is all about building trust, and founders and sellers who flub the answer to "who is your biggest customer?" will eventually be found out either by they way the question is answered or through word of mouth.

Asian in sales

I used to feel insecure as an Asian-American enterprise salesperson. There wasn’t much diversity in tech sales and I felt like the outsider in many instances. It’s why I obsessed over sounding polished and would constantly practice sales phraseology when I was alone. Now I coach founders and startup sellers how to show-up authentically and confidently when crafting their own sales approach.I turned an insecurity into a craft that I now teach my clients: how to say what you want to say with genuine confidence.
